· Job 1:1 – There was a man named Job
· Job 1:1-42:17 – The story of Job
· Ezekiel 14:14,20 – Noah, Daniel and Job righteous
· James 5:11 - the patience of Job
Job was a real person who lived and breathed in space and time. He was righteous in his generation. Tragically Job loses all he has because of Satan. The story in the book of Job involves conversation with three friends who came to comfort Job. Job maintains his innocence in the face of the friend’s criticism. Finally God appears in a whirlwind and asks who mortal man is to question his wisdom. Job is vindicated in the end and his fortunes doubled. The author of Job is a literary genius who created an absolute masterpiece.
Ezekiel places Job in a class with Noah and Daniel as exemplary righteous persons. “Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver but their own lives by their righteousness, declares the Lord God.” (Ezekiel 14:14, ESV)
